Take some great photos!

Step back into Sunderland’s proud industrial heritage and discover some modern-day archaeological secrets and take some great photos.

Celebrating its 200 year anniversary, the Hetton Colliery line once served as a vital feeder transporting coal from the mines of Hetton and Houghton to waiting boats on the River Wear in Sunderland. Today, little of this unique and remarkable infrastructure remains save for a glimpse into history with the trained eye.

Walk with Jon your guide to step back into Sunderland’s proud industrial heritage and discover some modern-day archaeological secrets that are hidden in plain view. Armed with your mobile phone, digital camera or film camera (even your Polaroid if you have one!), Jon will offer you help and advice on things to look out for, how to compose your images, and how to think about what you are photographing. Jon has a wealth of knowledge and will be happy to share it with you as you enjoy ‘walking the line’.
